I just need to vent a little and say that once upon a time, saying that someone had “swag” really had some damn clout to it.
But as it stands, pop culture and it’s obsession with catch phrases have diluted the meaning of that word so much so that labeling anything as such says very little, and moreover, makes most people cringe. It doesn’t mean a damn thing anymore to say a dancer has swag, because people have so loosely bestowed that label to anyone that can dance well. Just because you can dance does not mean you have swag. Sorry. Not to discredit anyone and their talent, It’s just that “swag” is a uniquely organic and raw characteristic that can be harnessed, but cannot be taught or learned. You can be an amazing talent, you can be steezy, you can be smooth or you can go hard. You can even mimic swag, but you probably don’t actually have it. (Before the haters start heating up, yes, I know I don’t have it either). With the way people throw around the word, it would seem that most people cannot even tell the difference these days. A word like that ought to be reserved for less than a handful of people, like these two females, Parris Patrick Goebel and Rie Hata. Watch this video, and all of their other videos, and then tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about.
